Drag Race - May 19, 2012.

Two or three times per year, an Armdrop drag racing organization rents a lightly-used airstrip in Picton, Ontario (Airport code: CNT7). These runways are typically used by a handful of private pilots and an Air Cadet glider squadron. Cars can be of any type, and as drivers run stages they race the car that ends up beside them. Some cars run solo and are timed for tuning purposes. Attendance is approximately 1000 spectators and 300-400 show cars, race cars and motorcycles. Motorcycles are currently not raced at these events due to insurance issues. This type of get together is about as honest and old-school as drag racing gets. Most attendees consider this to be the only real way to race automobiles.

So impressed was I with this racing spectacle that soon after I travelled back home to British Columbia, I bought a 1940 Dodge Truck (Ratrod). I have since been rebuilding and improving the engine. It is now running, and waiting for spring to continue work. I only hope I can find a local track that will let me run this truck in a similar fashion. This recording was made using a Zoom H2N with Roland CS-10EM Binaural microphones.
